One-hour classical concerts

On August 9, the Australian Chamber Orchestra will perform two one-hour concerts in one evening. Whether you work late, need a good night's sleep or like to linger over dinner, you'll love these events at just $40 each (or $65 for both if you are a slave to music!)

At 6.30pm, hear the most famous symphony ever written, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, and principal cellist Timo-Veikko Valve performing Schumann's Cello Concerto on his million-dollar Guarneri cello. At 8.15pm, the leader of the ACO, Richard Tognetti, is soloist in Vasks’ Vox Amoris on his priceless Guarneri del Gesù violin and directs Mozart's Jupiter Symphony.

You could opt to attend the early concert, and then have a leisurely meal - Bar Cupola is handily placed right next to the City Recital Hall. Or dine first, then attend the Vasks and Mozart concert. Attend both concerts, and Bar Cupola is the perfect place to enjoy a decent meal with understanding and swift service.

We like the concept so much we’ve reserved 100 seats at the concerts exclusively for Herald subscribers. And there’s a special bonus for three lucky subscribers. When you book two or more seats to hear the Australian Chamber Orchestra in concert you’ll go into a draw to win one of three pre- or post-concert dinners for two at Bar Cupola.

Visit www.aco.com.au to book online, or phone 1800 444 444 to reserve your seats. Whether you book for one concert or both, mention our promotional codeword HERALD to ensure you enter the draw to win a complimentary dinner for two.

Conditions apply: This offer closes on August 1 or earlier when tickets sell out. The bonus dinners consist of a main course and dessert of your choice at Bar Cupola with a glass of white, red or sparkling wine before or after the August 9 concerts. The draw will be conducted by the ACO.
