Break out the cigars, crack open the rum and celebrate! One lucky subscriber is off to Brisbane on Saturday, October 2, to enjoy the internationally acclaimed Ballet Nacional de Cuba’s exuberant Don Quixote in Brisbane.
Over the past decade the National Ballet of Cuba daring and dazzling performances have seen it emerge as one of the world's great dance companies, performing in 58 countries with triumphant seasons in Washington, Paris, Beijing, London, Athens, New York and Tokyo. Its Don Quixote, based on Cervantes’ great classic novel choreographed by company founder Alicia Alonso, has been hailed for the serious and dignified treatment of the title character, so often reduced to shallow caricature.
The Ballet Nacional is performing exclusively at Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane from September 24 to October 3, so Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Herald Benefits will fly one lucky Herald subscriber (and guest) to Queensland to attend.
The winner receives a superb $1,900 weekend package including two economy return flights from Sydney, overnight accommodation at Mantra South Bank including a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and breakfast at Stone Restaurant, two tickets to the October 2 evening performance of Don Quixote and dinner at QPAC’s Lyrebird Restaurant. Transfers to and from the airport are covered, and you’ll also receive a merchandise pack and an exclusive backstage tour of the theatre.
To win, just tell us, in 25 words or less, why seeing Don Quixote performed by Ballet Nacional de Cuba would be exquisite.
